Doll Diapers

Week three – only one done…but that’s ok.  I will be working on the other two today and tomorrow. My daughter’s BFF had her 3rd birthday recently, and due to some domestice “incidents” I was not able to complete her gift in time for the party. EPIC FAIL.  But, it’s done now. And, luckily, BFF’s don’t get their feelings hurt easily. So, I jumped over to Bee In My Bonnet and found a doll diaper tutorial…where Lori shared a link to Skip to My Lou with a pattern and the original tutorial to go with the pattern.  I made mine the same size as the pattern, and used iron on Velcro.  Hoping that holds – anyone have any experience with that?  If it doesn’t, well, I guess I’ll just have to sew them on later.  We’ll see! Here’s what I picked up for this project:

Fun Flannels

White Flannel for the lining – 3/4 yard. 4 other flannels – 1/4 yard. – you can get three outer pieces from this amount of fabric and it’s a good amount to make sure you have room to make proper use of directional prints. UT fabric is a bit smaller – irresistable in the remnant file.  Mom & Dad are UT grads, and do love their orange. 20140121-115607.jpg I made nine diapers with that amount of fabric , with enough leftover to make some wipes, and a little extra project my daughter has been begging for.   Because it’s fun to squeeze in little suprises for her, too.  I’ll show you that, too. And, here they are all finished up!  I found I couldn’t properly use the UT fabric (hence the tip on getting a ful 1/4 yard for directional prints), so I just added a big square to one of the diaper toushies.

And, sweet Aurora got a new pillow and blanket.  And sweet Molly is the happiest girl on the planet…

I got the biggest hug for this one…and I quote, “Oh, thank you Mommy! You are so good to me!”

So, there you go!  A little fun and a great gift.  Hope you’ll try this one out and let me know how it works out for you. Cindi

Happy Birthday, sweet friend!
