Well, I didn’t get much done in the way of sewing this week…but I did manage to barely pull off a party for my baby. The 14 year old one. Gah. Luckily, all he needs is friends, pizza, soda, and cake…and he always has a doozy of a cake request.

This one was fun…he wanted a donut cake…so I thought, “ok, I’ll cheat on this one… Grab a couple boxes of Krispie Kreme…stack ’em up…light some candles…and call it done. Nothin’ better than a big fresh pile of Krispie Kreme…especially if the dreaded Hot Now sign is on…

But, alas…while Christmas shopping, I ran across this fab cake pan … Yep. A donut cake pan. What are the odds? Well, it had the cake recipe, it had the glaze recipe, it had the pan…so what’s a mama to do? You guessed it. I bought it. I made it. 2 of it to more precise…and it turned out great.

I found mine just browsing around in a store…but you can get one without searching too far…just click on the picture below and it will send you to it or search around for some other options. You may even be able to pull this off with a bundt pan?  I followed the recipe on the box – turned out DELISH – and everything went very smoothly.  NO problems at all.
