Is Your Hair Falling Out, or Just Fall, Y’all?”

The question of the month…why am I losing so much hair?

It’s very easy to blame your hair products. And, though that’s a possibility, it’s likely not the culprit. The easiest way to rule this out is to switch to another brand entirely…not another line…another brand. With different ingredients.

If you’re concerned about excess shedding or hair loss, there are many factors to consider. I’m certainly not an expert, and I would recommend that you speak to your stylist or a physician. Your general practictioner or, perhaps, a dermatologist might be able to help you find the cause, or at least rule out many possibilities. I’m sure if you’ve made it to my tiny blog, you don’t need me to cover those. But, I’d be happy to put together a fully researched article, if you’d like.

I have experienced excessive shedding on a couple of occassions, one not long after I stopped nursing my third child, and the other at a highly stressful point in my life. Both situations resolved on their own, and none of the things I tried actually helped. It just took time.

Now, the point of this post, and it’s timing, is that it’s September. And EVERYONE seems to be mentioning losing their hair, or losing/shedding WAY more than they expect to. Listen, doll. I just finished washing my hair…and there was definitely a bit more than I’m used to. I have to admit, I had a moment or two of ‘what the crap!!‘ I chalked it up to having too many of these conversations recently and overthinking…but, maybe not…

So, here’s the thing I want you to know for the Fall – seasonal shedding is perfectly normal, especially in the Fall! Ok? So, don’t panic. If you’ve every had a fur baby with a heavy coat, you know what seasonal shedding looks like. So, before you throw out all of your hair products, consider the season. I don’t say all of this to minimalize anyone’s experience, but rather to help you understand that your hair can be impacted by the seasons and other things that may be completely out of your control.

If your hair loss is truly excessive, past what might just be seasonal, that’s when you want to dig a little deeper. So, what I’m basically saying here this:

  • It’s Fall, Y’all.
  • Don’t panic
  • Trust your gut.
  • Be your own advocate.
  • Have a friend or your stylist really look at your hair and scalp and talk with them.
  • If you’re concerned about your health in ANY way, please see your physician.

That’s it, readers! Quick short post, that I just felt was relavent as it just keeps coming up.

I’d love to hear about your experiences with hair loss…did you find a cause? Was it health/hormone related? Was it product related? Did you find something that helped? Did it resolve on it’s own?

Much love, and you’re beautiful…with or without hair, ok?

I have some big things coming next week, and hope you’ll check back in!
