Simple DIY Disney Marathon Hair Clip Tutorial
I had this idea a few weeks ago, but since I’m not a runner…I had no idea when the actual marathon was…sooo…I found out that it’s REALLY soon! I’m going to tell you how to create a custom hair accessory for the Disney Marathon in less than five minutes…even if you aren’t attending. And you don’t even have to be crafty, y’all!
The 2022 Disney Marathon is January 6-9 at Walt Disney World in Florida. Although all of the in person events are sold out, they are holding virtual marathons you can participate in this year!
Even if you aren’t participating in Disney’s events – for whatever reason, you can still be part of the fun with your local running group or online running teams. I don’t know anything about all of that, so if you have any thoughts or advice for my readers, feel free to add them to the comments. Now, let’s get on to your HAIR….
GATHER THE THINGS:
- A Disney charm or lightweight keychain. I used small princess charms from a child’s bracelet. Choose your favorite character or Disney theme, or a charm that reminds you of a loved one that you might be running in honor of. Heck, add as many charms as you’d like! Just make sure there is a clasp to grab onto the rubber band. If not, you’ll need to get some clasps or lobster claws. I supose you could use a twist tie or something of the sort if it’s REALLY last minute?
- Small Rubber bands. Tiny hair bands. I used my daughters collection of bracelet making bands because they had so many fun colors!
- Ribbons and any other additional decorations you might like to add. I didn’t add any ribbon.
- Your favorite hair holder. I used, and HIGHLY recommend the Flexi Sport. Your hair WILL NOT MOVE! It will hold throughout the ENTIRE race. As of the date of this post, there is still time to order before the marathon and there are several BRIGHT, fun colors! AND we’re getting a pink on January 1!
MAKE YOUR HAIR-DOEY-THINGY:
Yep. that’s what I said. Just make it. All I did was wrap the rubber band around my hair clip, attach the charm, and BOOM…DONE… The custom colors set will just get it all done in one swoop, minus the charm. But, I’d guess if you’re going to the marathon, you probably have a Disney charm hanging around somewhere.
ADD A LITTLE EXTRA:
If you want get wild and crazy…add all that ribbon, maybe some craft sticks to make things stand up…whatever you want, honey! Make it YOURS! Add some glitter hairspray…paint your hair, temporarily or permanently. HAVE FUN WITH IT!
Here are a couple of temporary hair colors I’ve personally used if you want to go that route:
Arctic Fox is bright and reliable. Make sure you give your self PLENTY of time, space and get some GLOVES, towels, and a t shirt you don’t care about. Once it’s in, you’re good to go. This is long lasting temporary color. We used this on my daughter’s hair for Halloween and it took a good 3-4 weeks to fully wash out (we only fully wash her hair twice a week, if that).
If you want something that will completely wash out as soon as the marathon is finished but won’t drip in your face and eyes during the marathon, Lilla Rose makes a hair mascara that fits the bill. I’ve tested and can vouch for this one! It’s an EXCELLENT product!
Thanks for visiting! I’d love to know if this post helped you sort out your marathon hair! Tag me on Instagram if you post your marathon look there!
Much Love to you and yours!
