Wedding Looks You Can Do Yourself…

One of the positives I’ve observed coming from this pandemic is that our gatherings and celebrations are smaller, and that means more intimate and personal. I love this. It just makes the occassion a little more precious. And, in my experience, the memories sweeter. We are simply less drained from the planning and preparation of the event, and, so, can simply sit back, enjoy, and actually participate without worrying about the details or getting that perfect Instagram worthy photo.

And hair? I did my own wedding hair. and love it. It was very simple. I’ve never been pleased with how other people try to style my hair and struggled with getting stylist to understand what I’m going for. Also, booking two hair appointments (one for a test run, and one for the big day) can seriously cut into the budget. That’s money that can be spent on your honeymoon, or other things. And, of course, I’ll add a wedding photo at the end of the post for you. I’m afraid I don’t have digital copies (that wasn’t a thing when I got married), so it will be a picture of a picture.

Now, I’m not going to tell you NOT to get your hair done…if that’s something you want, by all means, darling ENJOY IT TO THE FULLEST! I know that it can be a really great time to head to the salon with your bridal party and make that an occasion to relax and laugh with those women closest to you. I absolutely in no way want to diminish that experience. It can be precious…we just all have to look at our personal budget and priorities!

Here are a few looks that I bet you can do yourself! Some for the bride, some for the flower girl, and of course, any of these looks can be rocked by your attendants. You just need the right accessories and a little practice time…or a willing helping hand! If you would like help learning how to create any of the styles below, please comment and I will be happy to assist you!

A Simple twisted bun pinned with Perla & Pearls Bobbies
Ivory Hairband for a simple look pulling the hair of the face. A veil could easily be attached to this Hairband with hand stitching or Classic Bobbies.
Another Hairband option, with a wider band. Pearl is perfect for a little more visibility. A veil could also be added to this band. Swipe image to see item and model photo!
Look complicated? Not so much! For longer hair, this is simply a flipped messy bun with a rope of hair twisted around it. For shorter lengths, parts of the hair can be twisted and roped across the top of the bun. This bun is using three different bobbies: Pearls, Markeesa, and Perla.

Markeesa bobbies can hold a simple braid, pony, or just add a touch of decoration. Super hold bobbies are perfect, as well, for the littles with baby fine hair.

U pins are an instant classic, and you’ll be surprised by how easy they are to use and how securely they will hold a twist or bun. Shown, Grace U pins add a perfect touch!
Sometimes, all it takes is gathering your hair into a simple twist and adding a Hair Stick.

You can do whatever you want if you add the right accessory…Penelope is a crowd favorite…available in multiple sizes, you can get this clip for the entire wedding party.

Penelope also has a matching Large U Pin…a simple half up braided bun, a full bun, or a french twist can be held with this accessory.
Eliana is hands down my favorite accessory for formal events. This beaded Flexi 8 can be paired with any hair stick to create your own customized style. Flexi 8’s can hold a half up, a pony, a bun, a simple piece of hair swept back, a braid…you name it…

Want something a little dangly with zero fuss? Grab this Mariposa Flexi Clip.

How about a beautiful Dutch braided bun? So simple, yet so pretty! Adorned with Penelope Bobbies in this photo.

I hope that you found a style that will work for you! As mentioned above, if you need help or a tutorial creating a style you see, I’m happy to help you locate that, or create one for you.
