Gilbert the Elf Knows How to Have Fun, and When to Pause.
Gilbert took a little break from his regular shenanigans last night to pause and help us to reflect on a great loss. It’s hard to find appropriate Elf Ideas when you have suffered a loss, so we came up with our own way to honor our loved one.
How do to continue the Elf Adventures when you’ve experienced a great loss?
The holidays can be so difficult for many who are missing loved ones, and especially when we lose a loved one around the holidays. It’s not something we really like to think about, or talk about when we are supposed to be making happy memories and singing Christmas Carols. And, yet, it’s often there. Lingering in the background, just waiting to break out.
If your family is experiencing a loss this year, here’s a nice way for you to incorporate your Elf on the Shelf into those feelings that need to be felt, and acknowledged. This simple activity will give you and your family a moment to laugh and cry together and a special keepsake to honor your loved one.
I look a simple bell jar and tore some strips of construction paper to place in the jar with a Sharpie. One on strip, I wrote a Psalm:
Then, I took a simple piece of Printer Paper and Gilbert left a note. It’s really just that simple.
If you are experiencing loss and grief this holiday season, please let me know so that I can pray for you and your family. Know that God sees your hurt and may he hold you tight.
I’ll write more about our loss in another post. Thank you for visiting!
Much Love to you and yours!
