Is that beautiful time of year when we start thinking about buying Christmas gifts and sometimes the hardest thing is choosing gifts for all the Littles! There are so many toys they can overrun the house and we all know that they don’t need any more of those. Donation boxes, consignment, sales yard sales are overrun With an insane amount of stuff removed from homes – just to make room for – yep – more stuff. I remember one Christmas we had to actually go back to the in-laws to get a second load of gifts for my children. There. were. so. many. things. Let’s take a look at another option…
What to give when they have so much already?
Many families now are asking for books for their children, and I am all for it! I have often suggested books, concerts, or experiences for my children. My mother used to gift us family outings to encourage my siblings and I to bring our families together. These are great ideas for big budget gifts! Today though, we’re talking about one that is giftable at any budget level!

I was sent this beautiful Bible story book from Saddleback Kids to review and it brings me so much joy! It is even accompanied by a QR code so that you can access free companion videos for all the stories. You’ll also have access to activity kits with the code that comes with Hey-O! Stories from the Bibles. It’s the gift that keeps on giving! LOVE IT!
But is it actually a good book?
Y’all may not know this about me, but my original career was teaching reading…and I did as much for many years. Children’s literature was my closet passion and I’m kind of a snob about it. Don’t tell anyone. The first thing that I consider, when looking at biblical story books, is whether or not it is actually scriptural, and this one fit the bill. The book actually goes through the entire Bible in lovely easy, conversational language. You will even find a loving prayer helping your accept Christ into their hearts, if they are ready for that, at the end of the book. I find so many people and resources hesitant to include or speak this in the last few years for fear of persecution or turning people away, and yet it so important as fewer children are attending church and being exposed to Jesus in loving ways.
The scriptural references are provided so that you have the option of reading those to or with your child. Saddleback Kids provides YouTube videos of each story for a fully immersive and interactive experience.
The illustrations are bright, colorful, and the faces are full of expression. It’s a very high-quality book that will last for years and be able to pass down to future generations.
Whether your loved ones have a baby on the way, or if you have preschoolers or young children in your life, that’s only excellent gift for the holidays, birthdays, or any occasion. Or simply buy it just because the book is appropriate for mini ages. It is marketed for ages 4-8, and will be a great addition to your home, ministry, school, counseling, church, public, or Little Free Library.
