Ultimate Hair Care Push Presents for New & Expectant Mothers
I’m not a part of the generation that received push presents…seriously…if baby Daddy remembered to bring flowers to the hospital, we were doing good…but, apparently it’s a thing now.
Let’s talk about that!
I know. We’re a little off topic from our normal Thursday curly hair topics – but, curly girls have babies, too…so, here we are.
Whether you’re the baby daddy, partner, a family member, or a bestie, you might be considering getting a personal gift or ‘push present’ for a new or or expectant mother. By personal gift, I mean something for HER, not for the baby or the family. It’s VERY easy to get lost in the baby and forget to take care of mom. And for mom to think more about her growing family than herself. My birthday gift when I was pregnant with my first child was one of those atrociously huge circular stand in play gym thing-a-ma-bobs for…the baby…While I VERY MUCH appreciated this gift, which was very elaborate at the time and I would not have been able to purchase myself, it was not for ME…it was for my child.
One of the things we often neglect the most as mothers is showers – and, if we do manage that, we might not quite get to our hair, especially if it is long. For today’s #ThirstyThursday post, I’m going to share with you some items that I love that you could purchase individually or combine into a hair care gift basket. At the end of the post, we’ll talk about how you can give to new & expectant mothers in need either through your time, finances, physical gifts, or prayer. Tomorrow, we’ll discuss the importance of supporting other women during these times.
- A Silk Pillow Case. Regardless of your hair type or texture, a silk pillowcase has many benefits aside from the luxurious softness: reduce friction, breakage, and frizz, silk won’t strip moisture from the skin or hair. I could on and on…but what better gift could give to pamper a new mom?
- A Silk Scarf. I have a few that were gifted to me or are family pass arounds – they are AMAZING. My favorite right now, because it’s summer, is actually a silk chiffon wrap I found at Goodwill because it’s SO lightweight and let’s more air through, but still does has same benefits of the silk scarf. For a new mom, the scarf can be used to sleep in, or as a way to cover up a bad hair day in style, or even pull together an outfit if she has to get out the door in a hurry.
- Dry Shampoo. Because. Well. DUH. My family loves this one from Lilla Rose:
- An Aerosol Mister. This is especially useful for those with curly or wavy hair for a quick refresh. Even if they already have one, having an extra for the car or diaper bag is always handy.
- A Large Upin. The Swerve is my not-so-secret secret weapon. Quick buns, fancy funs, pony tails, French twists, half ups, etc. Forget the claw. Forget the scrunchie. This is what they want, even if they don’t know yet.
- Knit hairbands. Incredibly comfortable and versatile, this type of headband has been a staple for me over the last 20 years. I like simple ones without extra knots or elastic, decoration, or seams so that I can put in on fast without worrying about the direction – AND I can rest my head, or my little one’s head, anywhere without worrying about seams or bulky fluff.
- Almond Oil. I know it sounds simple and basic…but this is seriously one of my all over from head to to daily go to items – hair, face, skin…I use it as a scalp cleanser, a hair oil, and as a skin and facial moisturizer. It’s effective, natural, and inexpensive. If you’d like, you could even put in a more attractive bottle. I like glass pump bottles because they can be washed easily, refilled, and are heavy enough to be used with one hand (very useful when toting around an infant.)
- Hair Mascara. Because…who has time to do their roots? Or go to the salon with a new baby? Just sayin…

How Your Gifts Can Be Handled:
- Lilla Rose Orders that you would like me to deliver to the Hope Clinic can be placed by you, or by me.
- If I am placing the order, I will invoice for the total amount due prior to placing the order.
- I will have the order shipped directly to me and let you know when it arrives.
- Simply select the appropriate option on THIS PAGE to start that process.
- If you would like to purchase multiple items, you need only submit one – other items may be added to the notes in shorthand. We’ll get it sorted out quickly.
- If you place the order, you may have it mailed to me from Lilla Rose, mail it to me yourself, or (if local) drop off to me. Simply reach out to me to make those arrangements through THIS PAGE.
- I will combine donated items into gift sets/baskets for the Hope Clinic for Women.
- If I am placing the order, I will invoice for the total amount due prior to placing the order.
- I will not accept direct monetary donations. I am an individual – not a charity organization. You should never send money to individuals to make donations on your behalf. Those should be directed to the Hope Clinic for Women or another Pregnancy Care Center of your choosing.
- I will not accept payment for purchase of items from Amazon. You may purchase those from this list and have them sent to me. I will then combine those as appropriate into gift sets/baskets for the Hope Clinic for Women. If there is another item you’d like me to consider adding to that list (hair care related), please let me know. If you would like me me to confirm receipt of your gift and let you know when it delivered to the center, please make a note of that on your Amazon order. VIEW FULL AMAZON LIST HERE.
- You may, on your own, choose to purchase items from Amazon or from Lilla Rose without involving me at all. You may gift your purchases to loved ones or the pregnancy care center of your choosing. My goal is simply to act as a facilitator in putting together larger bundled gifts for new & expected mothers. So, if you can only give a little…it still matters. All of our littles combine to a big. Is it necessary? No, of course not! But, I love doing it!
Please let me know if I’ve left out any important information, or if you have ANY questions! And, of course, I LOVE your feedback!
This list is a recommend hair care gift list to care for new & expectant mothers created by Cindi Moore based on my experience with hair, and as a mother of 3. All revenues generated from my Amazon Affiliate Account will be used for donations or gifts for the Hope Clinic for Women. I do earn a commission from Lilla Rose purchases. Any items sent to me will be packaged in gift sets and taken to the Hope Clinic for Women in Nashville, TN. This is not a sponsorship or partnership with the Clinic, but a personal mission to support the ministry of the Clinic: Established in 1983, Hope Clinic for Women is a faith-based safe and confidential place equipping women, men and families dealing with: unplanned pregnancies, access to women’s healthcare, relationship education, pregnancy loss (miscarriage, stillbirth, infant death, failed IVF/Adoption and abortion) and postpartum depression. The Hope Clinic provides medical care, professional counseling, education classes, case management, mentor-ship and practical support regardless of age, race, religion or ability to pay.
When I originally commented I clicked the “Notify me when new comments are added” checkbox and now each time a comment is added I get several e-mails with the same comment.
Is there any way you can remove me from that service?
Cheers!
Sue, I’m working on cleaning up the comment issue right now and I’ll see what I can do or come back and tell you how to unsubscribe to those – I seem to have a very big issue with spam comments at the moment so I am working on requiring approval for all comments at the moment so I hope that will stop you from getting all of those emails!
My SINCEREST apologies. My inbox is a disaster as well.
thank you for your patience!
There should be a toggle at the top of the comment section (it toggles from blue to green in my word press app) but it is a check box on the website on the laptop/desktop) asking if you’d like to receive comments via email. You can turn that selection on and off there. I believe I have all comments now set to manual approval, and have finally blocked a main spam culprit. Again, I do apologize! It’s the growing pains of still being a small one person operation with a tiny bit of growing readership and having neglecting my writing for a few weeks. THank you again, Sue!
