End the War With Your Emotions in The Garden Within | Book Review

In The Garden Within, Dr. Anita Phillips explores with us what is happening between our hearts and minds. She explores with us that impacts everything in the rest of your body, and your life. When neuroscience and faith come together with an absolutely incredible soul to bring you some beautiful truths…

Pay attention.

Dr. Anita Phillips had me hooked in the Introduction of The Garden Within: Where the War with Your Emotions Ends and your Most Powerful Life Begins. Dr. Anita has the experience, the qualifications, the imagination, as well as the open mind and spirit to walk you through this topic. She is a very gifted author, gently walking through the science of how mental health connects to the body. She also helps us see the parallels our Creator has given us to nature and all of the connections we can make between our hearts and a garden.

Others you might be a little more familiar with than myself are taking notice as well:

  • Oprah Winfrey featured The Garden Within on her SUPER SOUL PODCAST
  • Additional features include Oprah Daily, Red Table Talk, Essence, Tamron Hall, Woman Evolve, Proverbs 31, the Today Show, and more…
  • Instant New York Times, Wall Street Journal, and Publishers Weekly bestseller

Key takeaways

  • Just as gardens thrive in good ground, the abundant life you’ve been seeking can only be grown in the soil of your heart.
  • Words are like seeds (like the parable of the sower) and the soil of our hearts need to be reset to receive words from God so they take hold.
  • Blending faith and the latest discoveries in neurobiology is an incredibly powerful approach.

What it is, what it’s about, and what you’ll gain.

Too often we’ve been taught to view our emotions with suspicion, seeing them as something to be suppressed, managed, or mastered. This isn’t true. Emotions are not your enemy. Internal war is not your destiny. You were created to flourish.

In this game-changing book, trauma therapist and mental health expert Dr. Anita Phillips reveals how embracing emotion is the key to living your most powerful life. Just as gardens thrive in good ground, the abundant life you’ve been seeking can only be grown in the soil of your heart.

Blending faith, the latest discoveries in neurobiology, and her own research and work as a licensed therapist, Dr. Anita shows you how to cultivate a state of emotional well-being that can:

  • strengthen your body and reverse the effects of trauma,
  • calm anxiety and renew your mind, and
  • unleash a new level of spiritual power in your life.

This book will equip you with the tools you need to nurture a part of yourself that has been misunderstood for too long — your heart — setting you free to live just as the Creator intended.

Book The Garden Within by Dr. Anita Phillips with cup of coffee on tray and crumpled linen napkin and small plant in white flower pot all on a white marbled table

My experience as I read this book.

I didn’t want to read it too fast. I wanted to soak it all in. The learning, the stories, the science…the scripture…all the things that blend together so beautifully. As Dr. Anita began describing the correlation between seedlings and neurons, I was taking back to grade school science – both mine and that of my children. As she further took us through the garden, I fondly recalled the process of becoming a mother . I was continually in awe of all the vast and intricate systems and processes involved in making those tiny lives come to be and allow our bodies to assist in sustaining them. What our Creator meticulously and thoughtfully designed never ceases to amaze me.

Dr. Anita walks us through these incredible process while we feel a sense of renewal and empowerment. There is no resentment or blame…just truth, tools, and weapons to overcome our struggles. So many breaths of air, so many strategies and words of encouragement we will be able to take with us throughout our lives and to carry to others. Not to mention the beautiful and thoughtful illustrations! I’m not usually one to get wrapped in those in this kind of book, but these…are SOOO VERY GOOD! You’ll have to see them for yourself (sneak peak in the video below).

This is a powerful book that you’ll want to share with your loved ones. You’ll likely need to get an extra copy or two…because you’ll want to keep yours for yourself.
