‘Not knowing what he said…”
Have you ever spoken before you should have, or before you gathered and learned all the facts? I think we have all been there. Peter certainly had a habit of that.
Slowly working my way through the book of Luke in my scripture journal, Luke 9:28-35 is what I read and wrote today. I really have to stop at short chunks, and let it soak in. Also, I have sermon notes with other scripture jotted down, and it’s nice to take a minute to study over those. The sermon can be found here : http://achurchforyou.com/sermons/the-gospel-according-to-luke-928-36/
Peter just wanted to build some tents. And then God showed up with bigger plans. In this moment, I can relate to Peter so much. He was ‘heavy with sleep.’ You know that fog you have from a deep sleep? Or a long nap? You try to just immediately do things before you have any idea what they heck you’re talking about or what you’re doing? Yea. I’ve learned to kind of just take a minute or twelve and figure out what the heck is going on first. Maybe have a cup of coffee or twenty. I mean, when I sat down to write this post, I had a plan. A mission. And it seems to be going in another direction entirely…because God’s plan is bigger than mine.
I just reread the scripture that I had jotted down in my notes and planned to share with you. And it says something different to me than it said a few minutes ago. Funny how that works. Ever reread a great book? Or re-watch a great movie? You see something new or entirely different that you didn’t see before. So, whatever is God is wanting you to hear, may I be that vessel.
1 Peter 1:16-18 says: “for it is written, “You shall be holy, for I am holy. If you invoke the Father the one who judges all people impartially according to their deeds, live in reverent fear during the time of your exile. You know that you were ransomed from the futile ways inherited from your ancestors, not with perishable things like silver and gold…”.
And, on that page in my Bible, I have so many scriptures written down to refer back to, I may just spend the rest of the morning digging into those. They all seem to revolve around Joy. Let’s look them up together and see what we find…choose at least one and share with me what God says to you. I am not adding links to these scriptures, because I want you to look at the scripture surrounding the verses if you need to…for reference and context. There is just something about that turning of the physical page. If you don’t have a bible, let me know and I’ll see what I can do to get one in your hands.

Amen. Yes ma’am. He works in ways bigger and better than ours. Thanks for sharing these verses too. 🤗
So much bigger. 🙂
Romans 15:13 stood out to me as a prayer to pray during difficult times. Praying that the God of hope will fill me with all joy and peace as I trust in Him so that I may overflow with hope by the power of His Holy Spirit. Thank you for sharing!
Oh, my goodness. I LOVE that one. I have goosebumps. The overflow is so very powerful! Thank you! I am so glad this was helpful for you!
